Age 88, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at home with his loving family and faithful dog at his side, following an extended illness. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Leone (Lee) Nowak; his son, John Nowak, daughters Jean Olds, Sharon Feese (Len) and Patricia Schornack, Michael Nowak (deceased), six grandchildren, one granddaughter (deceased), ten great-grandchildren and many close friends. Born and raised in Cheektowaga, NY, the son of Frank and Laura Nowak, he was the eldest of four brothers and one sister; Leo Nowak (Eleanor) from Lancaster, NY, Walter, Fr. Francis and Martha (all deceased). Joe proudly served his country as a Marine at Kume Shima in Okinawa during WWII. He moved to Ann Arbor to attend the U of M, where he met his wife Lee. Joe was employed as a Purchasing Agent and retired from Wedemeyer Electronic Supply Company after 42 years of committed service. Besides his love for his family, Joe also had a passion for fishing, gardening and roller skating (until he was 79 years young).
